"With Absolute Design's precise project management skills everything fell into place and we opened the door on time. Six months into the project and our business is a success. We constantly receive praise about the interior design and Absolute Design has helped us to create the café culture I had always dreamed of bringing to Truro".
Nicky Berry, Partner.

In December 2003, a new café/bar called Indaba, (a Zulu word for 'meeting place'), opened its doors and injected new life into the ever-warming veins of Cornwall's City of Truro. The café/bar was immediately successful attracting the well-heeled and happenin' of Cornwall's lifestylers. The sophisticated result was due to an imaginative collaboration of co-owners Nicky Berry, Nick Botting and Absolute Design of Falmouth.

Absolute Design managed the renovation of a former ATS garage into the café/bar within a tight eight-week deadline. The aim was to create an overwhelming sense of light and space. The industrial building provided an empty shell and raw exposed trusses lent themselves to an industrial theme. This inspired the stainless steel bar structure central to the space and a multifunctional area developed to flow from bar to serving area to open kitchen. A European Oak floor runs throughout, stunning lighting creates a sensuous atmosphere and the cream, pinks, chrome and olive set against dark wood tables epitomises 'urban-chic'.

The Indaba collaboration demonstrates how a strong perception and the will of business woman Nicky Berry, can be nurtured and translated by a professional team resulting in a product all are happy with, and which is ultimately successful. Absolute Design's versatile skills ensure that they are able to offer their clients a full service. From designing Indaba's corporate identity and product branding through to its commercial interior design this 'we can do it all' approach is not only a satisfying privilege for the design team, but also ensures efficient delivery of the project.

The bar was constructed by Celtic Iron, Cornwall, the floor supplied by Hackworth Sawmill, chairs supplied by Café Interiors, bench seating by Penwith Upholstery, tables from Capricorn Imports, lighting by Innermost, paintings by Sophie Tarbuck and main doors supplied by Solaglas.
