Hunky Dory is owned by South Africans Nick and Simon and has been refurbished by Absolute Design.
Nick wanted to create a "sophisticated beach house style restaurant" in the heart of Falmouth. Designer Kathryn Tyler was unable to alter the existing grade II building, previously a dark and traditional establishment, and so had to work her magic with tongue and groove panelling, lighting and paint. "We stripped all the low ceiling beams back to a light natural wood, used neutral Mediterranean colours on the walls, together with fresh modern lighting. We reupholstered the seating with suede fabric".
The effect is very impressive, "people cannot believe it's the same place" said Kathryn. Menus, receipt cards, stationery and uniforms were designed in line with the new fresh identity. The logo's simplicity is evocative of the clean, fresh interior. |
